ABC News Breakfast host Michael Rowland opens up about life behind the camera

The journalist and presenter talks family, work-life balance and his love of cricket

Michael Rowland is one of Australia's most recognisable journalists and television presenters. He has been hosting ABC News Breakfast since 2014 and is known for his warm and engaging style.

But behind the scenes, Rowland is a devoted husband and father. He married his wife Nicole Webber in 2002 and they have two children together. Rowland says that his family is his top priority and that he tries to spend as much time with them as possible.

"I'm very lucky to have a job that allows me to be home every night," he says. "I make sure that I'm there for my kids' bedtime and that I'm always available for them when they need me."

Rowland also credits his wife with helping him to maintain a healthy work-life balance. "Nicole is amazing," he says. "She's so supportive and understanding of my job. She knows that it can be stressful at times, but she's always there for me."

In addition to his family, Rowland is also passionate about cricket. He played the sport as a child and still enjoys watching it today. In fact, he even commentated on the 2019 Cricket World Cup for the ABC.

"Cricket is a great game," he says. "It's something that I've always loved. I'm so grateful that I've had the opportunity to commentate on it at the World Cup."

Rowland is a talented journalist, presenter and cricket commentator. But above all, he is a devoted husband and father. He is a role model for young Australians and an inspiration to us all.
