The Early Years

Gabby Douglas was born on December 31, 1995, in Newport News, Virginia. She began gymnastics at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the sport. By the age of 14, she had won the junior national championship and was a member of the US national team.

Olympic Glory

Douglas made her Olympic debut at the 2012 London Games. She was a member of the US team that won the gold medal in the team competition. Douglas also became the first American to win the gold medal in the individual all-around competition. Her performance in London made her a national hero and inspired young gymnasts across the country.
